A New Type of "COMMUNALISM"
Hi friends communalism according to oxford dictionary is "Loyalty and
commitment to the interests of your own minority or ethnic group rather
than to society as a whole" as we have seen in many books and a much hyped
phenomena nowadays preached by our so called media. But
as we know that communalism is about a group of people who are swellhead in
attitude
History of communalism
when we see the history of
communalism it looks as if it is a creation of religion but to my mind
communalism is not a byproduct of religion instead it grows on the faults
between our social strata actually communalism is not a very old phenomena in Indian
society instead it grown manifold in the 20th century onward as our forefathers
initially didn't had a seed of communalism in their blood as we can see clearly
form pre-1857 struggles there was not a feeling of communalism it is a well
created problem of our rulers "British" as they didn't want to lose
the jewel of their crown i.e. India and followed the policy to pacify the
unrest in Indian society but by dividing them.
but i m not here to give u lecture on communalism...i m here to deflect
your thoughts on one of the very new type of communalism emerging in our
already fragile society i.e. reservation
As i can see the govt. of our times are doing the same thing either with
deliberate thoughts or with fortuitous or unintentionally whatever would be the
reason but the thing this policy is doing is making another divide in our
society as when we talk about the about secularization and abolition of caste
the resevation here causes a new divide again in our society.
causes of communalism
As we can see clearly from pages of history the communalism is a creation
of resource distribution disparity and giving that thing a colour of particular
caste or religion as in our times as well we can see that there is an huge
shortage of jobs in our country and this creates a divide on the economic lines
but no doubt the most vulnerable class to this oppression is the oppressed
themselves as we can see there is a huge workforce in our country working in unorganized
sector and in earlier times too this economic and social backwardness of a
large section of our society gave birth to policy of reservation. When our
constitution got framed there was a provision for reservation for some backward
sections of our society and at that time it was necessary as well for the welfare
of those weaker sections. But as the time elapsed the ill effect of this policy
started of spread venom in our society.
At this time our society is got fragmented into two parts one with the pro
reservation ideology and the other half against it. And it effectively created
a divide in our way of thinking too.
Where the djin live...
The root cause of this divide is not the reservation phenomena but how it
is given in our country is matter. In our country it is given on those lines which
we want to eradicate from our society since ages (on caste basis). But the is a
problem is not solved yet why because of the fault in the policy even if it is
given on the basis of caste but the approach should be different. Today every
youth who doesn’t get the benefit from this policy start to blaming the
beneficiaries of it instead of blaming and thinking about amending the policy
which is the bone of contention.
Why I m comparing this with communalism
As we all know that the basis feature of communalism is to divide the
society whether it is on the line of race caste creed of economic status. But as
our constitution state that our country is a socialist one (preamble) and there
should be equality for all but as our constitution said about reservation
policy that it is based on the theory of positive divide or segregation to
uplift the weaker section of society true indeed but what I m questioning is
not the reservation but the way it got implemented. As it is causing a serious
damage to our country on many fronts.
- When one see a person
from those weaker section got a place in merit list of any institution or
job on the basis of reservation the first thought comes to his mind is “he
is from reservation quota he is perhaps not that much qualified”. This attitude
is dividing our society in fractions as I stated earlier.
- When one person with
such low marks got selected in the institution by surpassing a person who
is more qualified that him it also makes our overall results quality wise
low.
- When such a person with
that low quality (merit) is got out in the field he will surely not as
much qualified as his counterpart(with high marks)
The plight of weaker section too…
As we can clearly see from stats this policy of reservation no doubt
uplifting the life standard of persons from those weaker sections but how many
of them are getting benefits from it as we can clearly see how many seats of
these people remain empty in high offices of secretaries etc. the result itself
show that there is a need to look into the situation more intensely once more
and with fresh ideas.
We can see that every
child who are so called beneficiaries of this policy is getting his due of
benefits when he is either passed his matriculation exam and aspiring to join a
college or when he is aspiring for a job in both cases the age of learning is
passed away in real sense(i.e. 15 years) so we are giving reservation for mere
getting those companions of ours in jobs or institution by providing them mere
support not upliftment in real sense i.e. of knowledge and understanding.
I think this is the root cause for the vacant seats and the beneficiaries
from a very limited pool.
Way possible ahead….
As I was thinking then what should be the right approach to uplift those
weaker companions of ours
I came to conclusion that our govt. should think about
providing quality education persons by opening some schools exclusively for
these weaker section on the lines of KVs and sainik school. These schools
should not be in the urban areas but in the areas where they can reach them easily.
Instead of providing the support in form of money or relaxation in marks there
should be a proper framework to uplift them in real sense. By uplifting there
understanding and knowledge and this should be done from the very primary stage
so that there would be no need to bring the line of cutoff down to these dear
ones of ours instead try to make them as much qualified so that they can easily
cross the cutoff line set of anyone else…
